Day 3 + 1.5 Hours

This is my progress after ninety minutes of carving on day 3.

The colour change was the result of my washing the dust off the carving just before this photo was taken. The moisture on the stone highlights the colours and veins.

I've narrowed the head a little, causing the ears to be a bit more prominent.

The pencil was included in the photo in order to give the viewer a sense of scale.

Day 3 + 1.5 Hours

This was a slow day. I spent a lot of time refining the basic shape, but don't have a lot to show for it. Sometimes carving is like that.

Today I used a Dremel tool on the carving. (A Dremel is a high-speed rotary tool.) Fitted with a tungsten burr, I used this tool to hollow out the area between the front legs, and between the front and rear legs.
